Hurt, but I deserve it.
You might see this, and you might remember.
You might care, and I might remember.
I’m not always kind, but I always try.
There’s a single, stubborn hair that grows on the inside of my bicep, that side of bicep that is pale and soft. I pull it out periodically, and it insists on growing there.
I haven’t decided if I’m amazed or annoyed.
If I knew all the answers,
I would not keep them from you.
I only sharpen my teeth to cut straighter.
You look at me like I’m a prince, when I did nothing to deserve such a stare. Yet you treat me like a toy, all bending and all pulling, forever leaning on and looking for, stepping on and calling to.
But I am not your Prince Charming, I am not your cliché Disney Master collection dvd box set come to life to save you from the clutches of your boredom.
I could dip these handful of memories in Gold and still have no use for them:
I could drag them around by my neck or ears,
Or mold them into something worthwhile,
But as they are, they’re merely stone.
Lest the Hero stays Saint,
Stand where all before Fell,
Forego the Stories and the Gold,
Brave the Storm with Teeth,
Not for You But for Them
